Character Clothing 4

Today I spent some time modeling the pants and finishing off the vest. I feel pretty satisfied. There's not much left to do. I hope I can get the last of it done in my next sitting. This all too me several hours/days to complete but every second is worth it.

Added the undershirt and a few wrinkles to the vest. It kind of looks like it's made out of thick cotton, like a sweatshirt or something.

Character Clothing

For the last week I've been experimenting with building clothes in Maya to be transferred into Mudbox for details. I have gone through a world of a time learning how easy it is to make a mistake in Maya and figuring out I've made the mistake after I thought I was finished with the base model by transferring the file as an obj into Mudbox. A lot of headdesking and sad faces but I've finally got the base clothes down. I lost some details in my character's facial features but I will add them all back when I begin detailing the clothes. Here's a few shots of my base clothes modeling.

Character Head Model 4

More progress on my model. I feel a lot more confident with the program and I look forward to more practice in the future.

Character Head Model 3

So I get to class and I realize after asking a question that I need to raise the levels more to texture hair. This whole time I have been attempting to get the details of the hair under low levels. Lesson learned.

Character Head Model 2: Adding the hair

Just a quick update on my character. I'm adding the hair. The hard part now is getting everything detailed.

Character Head Model 1

This is the beginning of my character's head model. I'm using Mudbox to shape the features of this character as best I can.


The head model is the beginning of a 3D model I'm building from concept. I did not design this concept. I am only modeling it.

To get some of the finer details of the character's face, I chose an actor who resembles the character enough to use as a reference. Say hello to Nick Cage.

Maya Project 1

This quarter I took an Introduction to 3D Modeling class which consisted of learning Maya. Maya's a very interesting modeling program and I truly have much to learn about it. I also learned taking this class that I need to pace my time a lot more, lol. I feel confident in modeling basic shapes but I do need a lot of work in texturing, especially since I want to learn Z Brush. Here's an image of the final project I did for this class.
