Unwrapping the Female Orc

Unwrapping the model. This is my first attempt at unwrapping a model using Maya Software in opposition to using UV Layout/ Up until now, I've unwrapped all of my models in UV layout, and I like the software, but I feel that Maya can create a cleaner unwrap of the model once I took the time to master it. I still have much to learn.

Female Orc Base Model

Here is some progress on my Female Orc. This is a base, low poly model that I intend to do some sculpting on later. The amount of time I've spent on this base model is longer than I'd have like to. I've made several changes and tweaks, and there are still some things I'd like to add and tweak to the over all design including maybe a sword and shield.

Female Orc Sketches

The first Orc Woman is a drawing I did for a class project 3 years ago. I took the idea and made some tweaks to the design for the purpose of eventually transforming this character into a digital sculpture. These sketches show my process of creation.

Somalian Pirate High Poly

I've began the high poly model of my work. Most of my time spent on creating folds in the clothing. I've also began adding some facial details as well as far as wrinkles and hair. I adjusted the pockets to look more realistic as well.

Somalian Pirate Head

Now that the Torso is finished, I've added the head and the hat. The most important features for my pirate were the nose and the eyes, so I spent much of my time shaping those areas of the head. I added a separate mesh for the hair and the hat which I will manipulate in Mudbox later.

Somali Pirate Torso

I've continued on to the torso of my Pirate. I had some difficulty with creating the folds for the collar and pockets on the shirt but things worked out in my favor. It'll be easy to manipulate the mesh later in Mudbox when I transfer the work. For ow, I just want the impression that they're present.

Somali Pirate Pants

I've moved on to work on the pants of the pirate. I'm aiming for a militant cargo pants look.
